As you're going through all the "firsts" your child is experiencing, don't forget about their first visit at the dentist! This first exam should take place within six months of the appearance of the first tooth, or before your tot turns one. After that, you can follow the regular checkup schedule of twice a year. Remember that teaching your kids about oral health early on will help them form a positive rapport with their dentist as well as build good dental hygiene habits.
First Dental Appointment
Since going to the dentist is a new thing, your child may feel excited or apprehensive. To address the needs of our smallest patients, at Dentistry on Derry, we have developed a program that will help your child feel more at ease during their exam. We know that children who feel comfortable during their visits are more likely to take active interest in their oral health. You can depend on us to teach your child how to brush properly while taking a peek into their mouths with a handheld mirror.
Bringing your child to our dental office may feel like a big step, so don't hesitate to ask questions and bring up your concerns. Our friendly, helpful staff will be happy to make you and your child as comfortable as it gets!
